KLIN 1400 AM is known as a popular radio network licensed to Lincoln, Nebraska, that airs news talk information format. The ownership rights of the channel are currently held by NRG Media, and it serves the entire region of Lincoln. KLIN takes some programming from its affiliates, including Fox News Radio, Premiere Radio Networks, ABC Radio, and Husker Sports Network. The studios and offices of the Radio are in Broadcast House at Street 44 and East O Street in Lincoln; however, the transmitter is placed in the northern area of the city, near Salt Creek and Cornhusker Highway.
KLIN was first established in the year 1946 with callsigns KOLN. It started airing in August 1947 on a frequency of 1400 kHz with 250 watts ERP, as a respective affiliate. The first offices of the Radio were in the New Federal Securities Building in Lincoln.
In Feb 1953, the owner of the Radio decided to launch KOLN-TV. In August 1953, the station was purchased by John Fetzer, who was a broadcasting pioneer. In 1985, He terminated his whole broadcasting career, and the two networks became apart; after getting separated, Radio changed the calls to KILN, but TV kept the original ones. NRG Media got the possession of the KILN AM in August 2007 when Triad Broadcasting decided to put it on a sale.
