WPMI is known to be an NBC affiliate station which is owned by Deerfield Media and licensed to Mobile, Alabama; it operates in the Pensacola, Florida using UHF digital Channel 15 . The network has a duopoly with an independent station WJTC. Sinclair Broadcast Group operates both WMPI and WJTC via LMAs. Its studios and offices are situated in Mobile at Azalea Road near I-10, whereas its Master Control facilities are placed in Unincorporated Escambia County , FL on Mobile Highway; other internal operations are also managed by Master Control facility. WPMI’s transmitter is located close to Robertsdale, Alabama. WPMI signed on-air on 12 March 1982 as the only independent entity in Alabama State. After WEAR which was established 28 years before (which later became a sibling network), Channel 15 was the only commercial channel in the Mobile market.
