WTTO Birmingham, AL Live Streaming
WTTO is known to be a Sinclair Broadcast Group-owned channel
which is licensed to Homewood and situated in Birmingham. On 6 November 1979,
the Channel 21 came into existence and based at Riverchase office park on
Concourse Parkway; however the transmitter was installed at Red Mountain. The
sister networks of the station are WABM and WMBA-LD. WDBB that is owned by
Cunningham Broadcasting and operated in Bessemer is known as the permanent
broadcast relay service; however, Sinclair has the liberty to manage all the
networks under time brokerage agreement. The transmitter location of WDBB is
situated at the east side of State Route 69. The CW station’s transmission is
carried down by the repeater to west-central Alabama.
The original owner of the UHF broadcaster was Gadsden; WTVS
(a DuMont Television Network affiliate station) was known as the first TV
station to broadcast its services in the region in the fifties. Later, they
shifted the dial to WCRT (a Television Company and Chapman Radio-owned the
network). On 21 April 1982, WTTO signed on-air under Chapman Family Television
ownership. Its original offices were close to its transmitter place that was
near to the Goldencrest area. Watch WTTO Birmingham Live Streaming here.
In 1983, Arlington Broadcasting got the channel from Chapman
Broadcasting, and after keeping it for four years in 1987, it handed it over HR
Broadcasting. It was the only independent channel in central Alabama region,
but after operating for two whole years, it came across its rival in the form
of WBSS based in Tuscaloosa operating in a west-central area of Alabama.
In
1993, ABRY Communications got WNAL and WDBB (both the competitors of WTTO) and
made them full-time satellites networks of the latter. By 1994, it became the
US’ one of the highly rated Fox-affiliate channel after beating WBMG which was
a CBS affiliate and third in the ranking list in central Alabama.
