CKBN 90,5 FM Listen Online
CKBN 90,5 FM is community station of French language
telecasting from Bécancour, Quebec. The tagline used for the community
broadcaster is The Voice of the South Shore (La Voix de la Rive-sud). On 30
June 2004, the channel was approved by Canadian Radio-television and
Telecommunication Commission by the struggle of an applicant Coopérative de
solidarité radio communautaire Nicolet-Yamaska-Bécancour, Quebec to launch a
Francophone community station on 90.5 MHz frequency with 34000 watts Extended
radiated power. Overall 126 hours of programming would be broadcasting out of
which 116 would be the locally produced content by the station. These
authorized contours were not of the interest of the applicant. Therefore, he
requested the CRTC for changing the wattage and frequency. Then according to
the license, the latest frequency and the average wattages were 88.1 MHz and
2600 w respectively. On 16 February 2006, the change was disapproved by the
commission because it was not in favor of CKBN 90,5 FM. Canadian Commission
gave a last chance to the applicant to start the FM on air by the time of 30
July 2007.
On 8 May 2007, the station finally hit the waves. On 21
December 2012, CRTC updated the CKBN 90,5 FM license, which was valid until 31
August 2017. CKBN aims to present an effective tool of communication that is
